These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Menu Detective mobile application (the "App") and website at menudetective.app (the "Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
Important: The Service provides AI-generated menu analysis and allergen identification for informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, and you should always confirm with restaurant staff regarding ingredients and preparation methods.
By creating an account, downloading the App, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained parental or guardian consent. The Service is not intended for users under 13.
The Service is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. The AI-generated analysis of menu items is based on extracted text and allergen pattern matching. It may be incomplete or inaccurate. You alone are responsible for:
The Service is a supplemental tool and should never be your sole source of allergen information. Always read menus carefully and speak directly with restaurant staff about your dietary needs.
The App offers a free tier with limited cloud AI scans (2 per calendar day). Free tier features are subject to change.
A premium subscription ("full_case_file") provides unlimited cloud AI scans, multi-photo scanning, and spelling correction. Current pricing:
All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, as applicable. Payment terms, billing cycles, and refunds are governed by the respective store's terms. Subscription auto-renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Play Store account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are provided for unused portions of a subscription.
Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information. The App is designed as a privacy-first tool — your allergen profile stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

The App, its design, branding, and underlying technology are the property of Menu Detective and its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. No other rights are granted.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Menu Detective, its developers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to allergic reactions, health complications, or other personal injury. Your sole remedy is to discontinue use of the Service.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your license to use the App ends, and you must delete the App from your devices.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or website. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
